Hechi's Yizhou district has commenced its spring sowing season and, by Feb 20, had completed a total sowing area of 104,600 mu (6,973 hectares) of grain crops, 53,900 mu of vegetables and 55,100 mu of sugarcane.

Management work on 200,000 mu of mulberry fields in Yizhou has also been finished.

Agricultural departments in Yizhou district have been taking measures such as organizing online training and on-site guidance for local farmers to promote new agricultural technologies, measures and breeds, as well as helping farmers deal with problems in spring sowing.

"Now the weather has become warm we have to hurry up to plant the sugarcane to increase the yield," said Yi Mingdi, vice chairman of Linsheng agricultural cooperative, which has been helping farmers to plant sugarcanes.
