Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi has innovated new ways to integrate, invigorate and protect Maonan ethnic culture while promoting the core socialist values, said Wei Luhua, head of the county's publicity bureau, on Feb 21.

Huanjiang has translated and dubbed films catering to local residents in Maonan language, such as "82 Warriors", "Track Aduowan", "Hold Your Hands" and "Life and Death in 96 Hours". These films have been shown around the county for free.

The county has also arranged for enthusiasts to collect folk stories from minorities such as Zhuang, Maonan, Miao and Yao, and to write and publish collections of these folk stories, allowing more readers to discover folk culture.

Folk songs of the Maonan ethnic group have been collected and recorded by local singers. New lyrics relating to the core socialist values have been created for these songs. Thousands of CD recordings of Maonan folk songs have been distributed throughout society for free.
