Bama's tourism industry gains momentum

Bama Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, received a total of 6.44 million domestic and overseas tourists in 2020, with overall tourism spending reaching 6.67 billion yuan ($1.03 billion).

Bama's comprehensive index of its tourism market and tourism consumption level recovered to 82.66 percent of the 2019 figure, higher than the regional average level.

Bama is making full use of its advantages in tourism resources, constructing the Bama International Longevity Tourism Resort - the leading big health industry base in Guangxi - and Shenzhen-Bama Big Health Cooperation Special Pilot Zone.

In 2020, the county invested 49.3 million yuan in renovating local villages and more than 20 million yuan in constructing roads in Renxiang village.

The Renshouyuan Scenic Area in Bama was listed among China's second batch of 4A-level scenic areas in 2020, and two folk events including the Zhuzhu Festival were included on the fifth national intangible cultural heritage list.

According to a report on the competitiveness of county tourism in China in 2020, Bama was rated among the top 100 counties in China for tourism potential and among the top destinations for rehabilitation tourism in the country.
