The High School Affiliated to Minzu University of China (MUC) and Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, have signed an agreement to deepen exchanges and cooperation in areas spanning teaching, research, talent cultivation and management, chinanews.com reported on Feb 2.

Huanjiang is the only Maonan autonomous county in China. It has a population of 380,000, of whom 64,500 are of the Maonan ethnic group - 16.9 percent of the total.

The High School Affiliated to MUC, founded in 1913, is the only public high school in China enrolling students of all ethnic groups, and has cultivated a lot of outstanding talents.

"The two sides have carried out broad cooperation in basic education, and this cooperation will be beneficial for the mutual development of both sides," said Tong Lijuan, Party secretary of MUC.

The High School Affiliated to MUC has been cooperating with Huanjiang since August 2015 to help Huanjiang High School improve its teaching level. Huanjiang government has set up a special 500,000 yuan ($77,227.89) fund to further support the cooperation between two sides every year.

The High School Affiliated to MUC has also dispatched outstanding experts and teachers to Huanjiang High School to give lessons and training sessions since 2016, and local schools in Huangjiang have sent 130 teachers in 12 batches to schools such as the High School Affiliated to MUC and Beijing Haidian Experimental Middle School for further training.
