Du'an promotes 8 major poverty alleviation industries

Du'an Yao autonomous county, Hechi has implemented preferential policies, guided new business entities in developing characteristic industries, and created eight poverty alleviation industries, effectively lifting impoverished households out of poverty.

To date, 132,800 people in 82 villages in Du'an have been lifted out of poverty through industries like cattle and sheep breeding, with the poverty incidence rate dropping from 26.5 percent to 3.36 percent. From 2016 to 2019, the county was praised for its strong poverty alleviation and development achievements in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region for four consecutive years.

The poverty alleviation industry projects implemented by the county all come from the county-level poverty alleviation project library. The industries mainly cover cattle breeding, sheep breeding, camellia planting, grape planting, silkworm breeding, and lotus root planting. The county has distributed 260 million yuan ($38.39 million) in rewards and subsidies to assist 29,000 impoverished households.

Local leading enterprises and cooperatives have signed agreements with impoverished households to breed cattle and sheep through the mutually supportive methods like joint breeding and co-raising.

At present, the county has a total of 1,088 new business entities, such as leading enterprises, professional cooperatives, and family farms, covering 147 impoverished villages in the county and 13,100 impoverished households. Three 10,000-head cattle breeding bases, five 10,000-mutton sheep bases, as well as 247 cattle and sheep cooperatives have been established, benefiting 22,300 impoverished households.
