The opening ceremony of the Maonan Poverty Alleviation Achievement Exhibition Hall was held in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Oct 16 on the eve of China's seventh National Poverty Relief Day.

The exhibition hall comprehensively records the cordial care of the higher-level Party committees and governments to Huanjiang, the public assistance in the development of Huanjiang, as well as the prosperous years and history of the people of all ethnic groups in the county in their fight against poverty. It shows the Maonan ethnic group's pioneering and innovative spirit, as well as their courage and dedication in pursuing a happy new life.

The Maonan ethnic group is one of the 28 ethnic groups with a small population in the country. As one of the main focuses in the fight against poverty in Guangxi, Huanjiang has made every effort to promote targeted poverty alleviation measures and has achieved remarkable results. After years of efforts, the county's poverty incidence rate dropped from 19.56 percent in 2015 to 1.48 percent in 2019.

In May of this year, Huanjiang was withdrawn from the list of poverty-stricken counties, while the Maonan ethnic group successfully achieved its poverty alleviation goal.
