Bama tourism a hit during Golden Week holiday

During the recent eight-day Golden Week holiday, Bama Yao autonomous county in Hechi received a total of 276,700 tourists and generated 131 million yuan ($19.49 million) in tourism revenue, reaching a new peak since the COVID-19 outbreak earlier this year.

Bama Yao autonomous county is famous for its longevity culture and has been honored as "China's longevity village." Scenic spots like Crystal Palace, Baimo Cave, and Bainiao Rock are still the top choices for tourists in Bama, averaging 32,000 tourist visits per day. On Oct 5, the county received 45,100 tourists, generated 26 million yuan in total tourism consumption. The number of tourists visiting and the operating income of scenic spots both ranked in the forefront of major scenic spots in Guangxi.

During the holiday, the county's major scenic spots launched a series of preferential promotions, as well as a number of characteristic tourism routes. Rural leisure tours have been popular among tourists and have attracted large numbers of visitors from all over the country. The room occupancy rate of rural homestays reached over 85 percent during the Golden Week holiday, which was a highlight of the county's tourism success.

In order to ensure the overall stability and order of the tourism market, the county has formed six working groups to conduct supervision that COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, as well as safe production measures are being followed. In addition, it has strictly implemented the post responsibility system, effectively strengthening the timeliness of emergency disposal and information submission.
