Renowned Chinese players cheer on Guangxi basketball league

A number of famous Chinese basketball players gathered to cheer on the Second Guangxi Men's Basketball League, which was inaugurated in Dahua Yao autonomous county, Hechi on Oct 10.

Basketball stars that attended included: Wang Libin, who was named the best center in Asia and has represented the country in the Asian Youth Championships, Asian Championships, as well as World Championships many times; Huang Yunlong, who has been on the China national teams in the Asian Championships, World Championships, and the Olympic Games; Wang Yong, a national senior basketball coach and vice chairman of the Guangxi Basketball Association; and Xu Zhonghao, a well-known basketball player from Guangxi and a member of the Chinese men's basketball team.

Sponsored by the Guangxi Basketball Association and the people's government of Dahua Yao autonomous county, the competition welcomed 14 teams from 14 prefecture-level cities in Guangxi, with 223 participants, including 14 team leaders, 14 coaches, and 195 athletes.

After the group stage and elimination rounds, the top eight of the 14 teams will be awarded. The competition started on Oct 9 and will end on Oct 15, with a total of 55 games.

More than 2,000 guests from the Guangxi Sports Bureau, the Guangxi Basketball Association, and the sports bureaus of the prefecture-level cities attended the opening ceremony.
