Bama Yao autonomous county, Hechi held the 36th China's Teacher's Day and Commendation Conference on Sept 10, rewarding 1.8 million yuan ($266,162.91) to 20 units and 129 individuals that have made contributions to education and teaching.

In recent years, Bama has made education a priority for its development, with the quality of its education and teaching continuing to improve. The county has developed a balanced education at all levels and types of schools, optimized the allocation of educational resources, as well as narrowed the gap in education development between urban and rural areas.

Since the beginning of this year, all schools in the county have organized various levels of online teaching in facing the challenges caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.

The county has continuously increased the staffing of primary and secondary school teachers to solve its original teacher shortage problem. It has formulated teacher introduction plans, improved the conditions for running schools in impoverished villages, accelerated the construction of rural education projects, and increased efforts to fight poverty through education.

A student funding system covering all types of education, including fee reductions and exemptions, supplements and awards, as well as assistance and loans, has been established.

In addition, Bama has comprehensively integrated finance, education, and civil affairs education assistance resources. In the 2020 spring semester, 175 rural compulsory education schools in the county implemented the student nutrition improvement plan. A total of 10.73 million yuan in subsidy funds have been allocated to enable 28,237 students to improve their dietary conditions.
