In order to enrich the cultural life of people in ethnic minority areas, Guangxi Culture and Tourism Department held a training class on the inheritance of traditional opera (Cai Diao) in Bama Yao autonomous county, Hechi from Sept 4 to 8.

A total of 65 opera enthusiasts in the county participated in the four-day activity. The content of the training included the basic knowledge of opera performance, the hand positioning and footwork of opera, as well as paired exercises.

Guangxi is an area inhabited by many ethnic groups, where ethnic folk music and dance are rich and colorful. Cai Diao originated from the antiphonal songs derived from the singing, dancing and rap music of the rural areas of northwestern Guangxi.

It has collectively been called "Cai Diao" since 1955. It is lively and easy to understand, and covers content very close to people's daily lives. It has a strong ethnic style and local characteristics. It was successfully selected as a national intangible cultural heritage on May 20, 2006.

The traditional Chinese opera is an important part of Chinese culture, with a long history of inheritance and development, and is a cultural treasure of the country. In recent years, Bama has actively popularized Chinese opera culture into the countryside and on campuses, carried out cultural services for people throughout the county, and continued to pass on and develop opera culture.
