Nanning hosts touring Maonan themed art exhibition

A touring exhibition of art works by teachers and students of Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Hechi was held in Nanning Library on Aug 5, showcasing the poverty alleviation achievements of the Maonan ethnic group through education assistance between Guangdong province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The exhibition was sponsored by the poverty alleviation headquarters of Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county and Nanning Library. It was hosted by the Huanjiang Party committee publicity department, as well as the education bureaus of Futian district, Shenzhen and Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county.

A total of 380 pieces of student art works and 120 pieces of teacher's art works were exhibited. The student's works were mainly oil pastels, Chinese paintings, as well as watercolor and gouache paintings, while the teacher's works were mainly oil paintings and Chinese paintings.

The themes of the exhibition included showcasing the scenery of Huanjiang, the gratitude of the Maonan people in mountain villages after they were lifted out of poverty, the positive outcomes of Guangdong-Guangxi cooperation, as well as the artists’ feelings for their families and the country during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent years, children in Huanjiang have experienced unique art education under the guidance of teachers from Futian district, Shenzhen. The exhibition will be held in Shenzhen in mid-to-late September this year.
