A photography exhibition showcasing the journey of Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county being lifted out of poverty was held in Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on July 15.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Federation of Literary and Art Circles of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the Huanjiang government. A total of 100 works will be exhibited in Guangxi Library from July 15 to 26.

Professional photographers and photography enthusiasts told stories about Huanjiang's journey to prosperity through images, which deeply reflect the vivid scenes of people of all ethnic groups in Huanjiang in the process of winning the battle against poverty. The photos showcased the county's innovative measures and remarkable results in its poverty alleviation efforts, highlighting the spirit of the Huanjiang people who were brave in overcoming difficulties in their pursuit of a happy life.

Huanjiang is a key poverty alleviation county and the only Maonan autonomous county in the country. The county has 64,500 members of the Maonan ethnic group, accounting for about 70 percent of the country's total Maonan population. In 2019, 65,900 people in the county were lifted out of poverty, while the incidence of poverty dropped to 1.48 percent. In May 2020, Huanjiang officially withdrew from the list of poverty-stricken counties and lifted the entire Maonan ethnic group out of poverty.

The person in charge of the exhibition noted that the photography exhibition showcasing Huanjiang’s poverty alleviation success can better promote the effectiveness of poverty alleviation efforts in the whole region.
