Luocheng develops ecological industries around Yanshan Lake

In recent years, Luocheng Mulam autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has developed several ecological industries around Yanshan Lake, a reservoir surrounded by hills with good soil quality, beautiful mountains, and water.

Wei Daisi, a Mulam youth who had engaged in agro-ecological development, established the Luocheng Changhao Breeding Cooperative in June 2016 and the Guangxi Yanshan Lake Agro-ecological Development Co in November 2017. Utilizing the advantages of land resources and convenient transportation, the company signed contracts with 921 impoverished households to buy 3,180 mu (212 hectares) of land for developing industries like planting, breeding, and leisure tourism.

The company has vigorously developed an integrated livestock industry poverty alleviation project of Broussonetia papyrifera, as well as entrusted local impoverished households to plant Broussonetia papyrifera for the development of cattle and pig breeding. At present, more than 1,200 mu of trees have been planted, while more than 680 cattle and 2,000 pigs have been farmed around Yanshan Lake.

Tourism has been promoted due to the rapid development of the planting industry and the breeding industry. Activities including Mulam farming experiences, camping and fishing, as well as food culture experiences are available. In addition, a recreation agriculture park has completed the construction of tourist facilities, such as tourist service centers, observation decks, business hotels, eco-restaurants, homestays, pavilions, farming trails, and nursery sheds.

To date, the development of multiple industries around Yanshan Lake in Luocheng has directly led 3,150 local impoverished people to participate in the construction.
