Officials from Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county of Hechi held a press conference to announce that the Regulations on the Protection of the Fengteng Mountain Ancient Tombs in Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County was approved and will be formally implemented on July 1, 2020.
The regulations provide a specific local legal basis for the county to further protect and manage the Fengteng Mountain Ancient Tombs.
The ancient tomb group of Fengteng Mountain in Huanjiang is located in Tangba village, Xia'nan township, covering a total area of 78.52 mu (5.23 hectares). It was listed as autonomous region-level cultural relics protection units in July 2000 and was designated as national key cultural relics units by the State Council on March 5, 2013.
The regulations clearly defined the formation time of the ancient tombs of the tomb group, which are the tombs formed in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911) that meet certain characteristics to determine them as ancient tombs. The newly-built tombs formed afterwards will not be recognized as ancient tombs, but will be numbered and determined after on-site identification by professionals.
The regulations stipulate that grazing, building kilns, quarrying, mining, deforestation, making unauthorized changes to the original state of the tomb, as well as moving or excavating the tomb within the protection scope of the ancient tomb group are forbidden.
The regulations also stipulate that it is forbidden to construct facilities that pollute the ancient tombs and the environment, as well as to construct various artificial landscapes and scenic spots that distort and damage the authenticity of the ancient tombs. Those who violate the regulations and cause serious damage will be fined by the related departments.
