Experts offer technical training for Du'an cattle and sheep farmers

Ten high-level experts were invited to Du'an Yao autonomous county, Hechi on June 18 to provide assistance for the cattle and sheep breeding projects in the county, carrying out technical training and offering useful suggestions.

The experts were from the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development of Guangxi University, the Guangxi Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center, the Xiangyang branch of Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), as well as the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Research Institute of the Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Leaders of Du'an introduced the economic and social development of the county, as well as its poverty alleviation efforts in recent years. Since the introduction of the cattle (sheep) breeding industry, the county has built three cattle bases with 10,000 cattle, five sheep bases with 10,000 sheep, as well as 247 cattle and sheep cooperatives, raising 150,000 beef cattle and 800,000 sheep. A total of 138,800 people from 82 villages have since been lifted out of poverty.

The event was hosted by the Guangxi Human Resources and Social Security Department, and undertaken by the Guangxi Overseas Students and Experts Service Center and the Hechi human resources and social security bureau.

The experts also went to 19 townships in Du'an to conduct training in breeding techniques with farmers.
