Frozen chickens donated to support Wuhan
Six metric tons of frozen chickens, which are valued at 250,000 yuan ($35,619), were sent to Wuhan, Hubei province, the city hardest hit by the novel coronavirus pneumonia in China, on Feb 26 from Dahua Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
The frozen chickens were processed at the cold chain logistics center in Dahua, commissioned by Guangdong CERO Blockchain Technology Co Ltd, who aimed to pay respects to the medical workers who have been working on the front line of the battle against the epidemic.
“We have been moved by the medical workers fighting day and night on the front line against the novel coronavirus,” said a person in charge of Guangdong CERO Blockchain Technology Co Ltd.
The reason why we chose the Dahua cold chain logistics center to process the chickens was to simulatenously support the development of enterprises in impoverished areas, added the person in charge.
The cold chain logistics center in Dahua, covering an area of 120 mu (8 hectares), has several slaughter lines for pigs, mutton sheep, and beef cattle, a 15,000-square-meter slicing and packaging freezer, as well as cooked food processing factories.
Since the center resumed its production on Feb 4, about 300,000 chickens from Nanning, Beihai, and Guilin have been slaughtered in the center, according to Liang Haijun, deputy director of the cold chain logistics center.
