Hechi natives in Hong Kong donate to help fight coronavirus
Hechi Natives Association in Hong Kong donated 300,000 yuan ($42,934) and 20 air cleaners, which are valued at 150,000 yuan, to Hechi to help the city's efforts in the control and prevention of the novel coronavirus pneumonia.
Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the association has been publicizing information on epidemic prevention and calling on its members to make donations through its public WeChat account.
By Feb 14, more than 40 members of the association had answered the call to donate.
"We have been paying close attention to the epidemic situation in our hometown Hechi," said Zhong Sui, head of the Hechi Natives Association in Hong Kong. "We have also seen the heroic efforts of the medical staff fighting on the front line against the epidemic, which has deeply moved us."
"We people who are far away from our hometown should fight together with people in our hometown against the epidemic," noted Zhong, adding that the association will continue to raise donations for epidemic prevention materials, such as medical masks, goggles, protective clothing, and clinical thermometers, which are in urgent need in Hechi.
