Construction of a "Xiaotangshan Hospital" in Du'an Yao autonomous county in Hechi is in full swing and is expected to be put into operation by Feb 20.

Xiaotangshan Hospital in Beijing was an "instant infirmary" built quickly to treat patients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2003 to fight the SARS epidemic.

The hospital, designed to receive and cure fever patients in the county, is aimed to bolster efforts to better combat the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

About 600 workers are simultaneously working on the construction in round-the-clock shifts. By Feb 16, the indoor cleaning had been completed 100 percent, while 50 percent of the supporting installation of water and electricity had been completed.

The hospital is constructed on the site of the former Du'an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with a transformation area of 16,800 square meters. It will have 500 beds.

The newly built dormitory will cover an area of 1,400 sq m, while the canteen is 460 sq m.
