Dahua's poverty alleviation products enter Nanning's market

An activity to promote poverty alleviation agricultural products from Dahua Yao autonomous county in Hechi was held at the Dancun Farm Trade Market in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi on Jan 11.

Sponsored by the Hechi municipal government, the event aimed to expand marketing channels for Dahua's agricultural products, increase the incomes of impoverished people in the county and promote the development of the county's poverty alleviation industries.

A total of 102 poverty alleviation agricultural products from the 16 townships of Dahua were exhibited at the Dancun market, including the Qibainong chicken, recognized as a China Protected Geographical Indication Product.

Daily sales of the agricultural products reached about 390,000 yuan ($56,341).

In addition, the exhibition and sales center of the poverty alleviation products from Dahua was also established at the Dancun market.

Dahua is one of the four extremely poor counties in Guangxi. It has been promoting the development of poverty alleviation industries in recent years, with some success.

In 2015, there were 92 impoverished villages and 104,330 registered poverty-stricken people from 22,513 households, and the incidence of poverty was 25.77 percent.

By the end of 2019, the number of villages and people remaining in poverty was 24 and 17,288, and the incidence of poverty was reduced to 4.27 percent.
