Donglan bears fruitful results in poverty alleviation in 2019
Donglan county in Hechi achieved fruitful results in its poverty alleviation efforts in 2019 by developing industries, boosting construction of infrastructure, and promoting the relocation of impoverished people.
Since 2017, 25 million yuan ($3.6 million) has been invested into the planting of tea-oil trees in Donglan. To date, more than 67,000 mu (4,466.67 hectares) of tea-oil trees have been newly planted in the county, covering 3,181 registered poverty-stricken households and 15,000 impoverished people.
In 2019, 423 new silkie chicken farms were built up in the county, while 219 ones are still under construction.
More than 235.66 million yuan was funded to the construction or renovation of roads in the county's rural areas in 2018. A total of 355 village roads, totaling a length of 442.8 kilometers, were hardened, while 175 roads with a length of 284.6 km were constructed, benefiting more than 80,000 rural residents.
In 2019, all the 3,613 villages in the county were connected by cement roads, laying a solid foundation for further poverty alleviation efforts.
In addition, Donglan raised 180 billion yuan in 2019 to build a large poverty alleviation factory at the county's Sanshi town, as well as 13 poverty alleviation workshops.
It is estimated that after all the poverty alleviation workshops are put into production, more than 10,000 people who have been relocated can obtain employment.
Labor-intensive enterprises were also introduced into the county. To date, two enterprises, Junhong Precision Plastic Parts and Electronics Co and Hanke Electronic Technology Co Ltd, have settled in Donglan, creating more than 400 jobs for relocated impoverished people.
