Yizhou's poverty alleviation efforts through consumption pay off

Yizhou district in Hechi has been promoting its consumption driven poverty alleviation efforts in recent years, which have achieved some success.

Yizhou Zhafeila Agricultural Products Managing Co was set up in the district, carryings out the integrated business model of acquisition, processing, packaging, and sales for agricultural products from impoverished villages, aiming to establish a market-based platform for production, marketing, and purchasing in poor areas.

Both online and offline platforms are made full use of to expand the agricultural products' sales, including the Zhafeila e-commerce service center platform.

Government departments and labor unions of enterprises in Hechi are encouraged to purchase the agricultural products produced in the district's impoverished villages.

To date, a total of 28 e-commerce enterprises above designated scale have been cultivated in Yizhou, more than 10 agricultural products online sales platforms have been introduced to the district, as well as over 210 e-commerce poverty alleviation shops have been set up, increasing the per capita income of impoverished people by more than 10,000 yuan ($1,429.38).

A total of 56 government departments and enterprises have ordered 50,000 chickens for the Spring Festival so far, as well as other kinds of featured agricultural products in the district's impoverished villages. The total sales revenue reached about 1 million yuan.

In addition, poverty alleviation workshops were also built in the impoverished villages of Yizhou to gather the agricultural products produced by impoverished families to sell both online and offline.

The consumption-oriented poverty alleviation workshops in Liusanjie town have to date offered more than 20 jobs for impoverished people, whose monthly income have increased by 2,000 to 3,000 yuan.

Under the guidance of leading enterprises, several breeding bases have been established in the district's poor villages to promote the scale development of their agricultural products.

To date, a total of 1 million yuan was invested to build two chicken farms in the district, breeding 20,000 chickens and producing 3,000 marketable fattened chickens every month.

Measures like promotion through new media were used to cultivate brands for poverty alleviation.

The district's "Zhalafei" brand was given the "Guangxi E-commerce Internet Celebrity Brand Award" in August by the Guangxi Electronic Commerce Industry Conference, the only one in Hechi to be awarded.
