Officials devoted to Nandan's poverty alleviation work

Since the beginning of 2019, Nandan county in Hechi has accredited a total of 338 officials to its 151 villages and communities to propel the county's poverty alleviation efforts and boost rural revitalization.

Great efforts have been made by the accredited officials to improve the infrastructure in the villages and communities, including roads, water facilities, housing, and internet, which are essential to lifting residents out of poverty.

To date, a total of 30.44 million yuan ($4.37 million) was raised by these officials to improve the road conditions in the county, more than 15 million yuan was used to solve the drinking water problems for 18,200 people, as well as 77.93 million yuan was collected to construct high-standard farmlands in the county's 11 administrative villages, totaling an area of about 3,560 hectares.

A total of 155 base stations were established in Nandan, ensuring all the villages in the county are covered by 4G networks.

In addition, officials guided villagers to develop poverty alleviation industries, including kiwi fruit, chickens, and plums, according to the local natural conditions.

By the end of November, a total of 56 industrial bases were built in the county, bringing benefits to 8,341 impoverished households and reaching a 96 percent coverage rate of characteristic industries.

Forty seven impoverished villages were supported to foster 61 business entities of new types, such as farmers' specialized cooperatives, boasting a 96.21 percent coverage rate of characteristic industries.

The environment is also being improved in the county's villages and communities under the leadership of officials to make them more suitable for living, working, and visiting. From January to November, more than 580 landscape innovation projects were carried out in the county.
