Intl marathon to kick off in Bama

The 2019 Bama International Marathon is set to kick off this weekend on Oct 27 in Bama Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

With the theme of "Healthy Bama, Leading the Future," the event aims to further enhance public awareness of the national fitness initiative, guide people into exercising in a proper way, as well as increase Bama's visibility and reputation globally.

With a total prize amount of 198,000 yuan ($27,995), the event will feature men's and women's full marathons (42.195 kilometers), men's and women's half marathons (21.0975 km), men's and women's 10 km marathons, as well as men's and women's mini marathons (5 km).

Bama is a world-famous "longevity village." The event, which aims to highlight the county's longevity culture, has specifically designed a prize for people over 60 years old. The top 10 participants in the full, half, and 10 km marathons can receive a prize ranging from 300 to 2,000 yuan.

The event is co-sponsored by the Chinese Athletics Association, the Sport Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the Hechi municipal people's government.
