Maonan culture shines in Melbourne

The Maonan Yinyun Art Troupe from Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region staged performances spotlighting their Maonan ethnic culture in Melbourne, Australia on Oct 18.
After performing in the United States, Germany, Thailand, and Vietnam, the troupe was invited to perform in Australia for the first time.
Members of the Maonan ethnic group wore traditional costumes and sang several original songs and performed folk dances to a rapt audience that included Cr Andrew Davenport, councilor of the City of Whitehorse in Melbourne, and Zou Bin, cultural consul of the Consulate General of China in Melbourne.
The performance was held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as to promote Guangxi’s folk culture.
