Hechi governmental agency assists village out of poverty
Located about an hour's drive from the urban area of Du'an Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guchao Village is a village with tough environmental conditions, poor infrastructure, and insufficient internal driving forces for development.
The Hechi highway administration bureau has been devoted to assisting the village's poverty alleviation efforts in recent years.
Through their work, the village's living environment has been greatly improved. A cultural activity center and basketball courts have been put into use. The main activity venues in the village have achieved full wireless coverage. Six roads have been newly built to facilitate travel in the village.
In addition, all students in the compulsory education stage in the village have been ensured that they will receive education. The medical insurance coverage rate of villagers has reached 100 percent. Dilapidated houses have also been renovated in an orderly manner.
However, the village's planting and breeding industries are still developing in a traditional way with a small scale and scattered distribution.
Tang Xiangming, director of the Hechi highway administration bureau, said that they will build a cattle farm to entice villagers to plant grass and raise cattle, helping to raise the village's collective economic income and people's abilities to support themselves.
In the second half of this year, the bureau plans to construct 10 new centralized water supply sites and 36 family water tanks to solve the problem of drinking water, as well as seven new roads with a length of 14.6 kilometers to further facilitate people's ability to travel.
