Hechi's service sector explodes over 70 years
According to the Hechi statistics bureau, the added value of the city's service sector rose by 5,627 times from 1952 to 2018, with an average annual growth rate of 14.2 percent.
The proportion of the added value of the service sector in the city's GDP grew from 11.8 percent in 1952 to 47.9 percent in 2018.
The total retail sales of consumer goods from 1952 to 2018 increased by 1,953 times, and had an average annual growth rate of 12.4 percent, making it the primary driving force for economic growth for five consecutive years.
From 1952 to 2018, the mileage of highways in the city rose by 41 times from 320 kilometers to 14,000 km. The length of waterways in the Hongshui and Longjiang rivers in 2018 totaled 1,104 km.
Passenger volume through highways and waterways in the city increased from 8.02 million in 1981 to 33.52 million in 2018, while the freight volume rose by 18 times from 3.89 million metric tons in 1981 to 74.09 million tons in 2018.
The quantity of vehicles in a city can reflect its economic development and rising living standards. From 1952 to 2018, the number of vehicles in Hechi increased by 57,000 times from 16 to 904,100.
