Hechi agricultural bases now innovation, entrepreneurship models
Three planting and breeding centers in Hechi city have been nominated for inclusion on the national Star Creation World (Xingchuang Tiandi) list by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Inclusion on the Star Creation World list is generally awarded to innovative agriculture-dedicated sites with the aim of promoting agricultural development. The recipient must show competence in R&D, innovation, commercialization, project incubation, and the provision of services.
The nominees from Hechi are a free-range chicken center in Fengshan county, an eco-farming base in Du'an Yao autonomous county, and an agroforestry center in Nandan county.

To date, Hechi has had 16 sites included on the Star Creation Worlds list by Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including three with national approval. They mainly engage in fish breeding, poultry production and silkworm raising, and operate across a combined area of 11.6 hectares. Under cooperation with nine scientific research institutes, they were able to produce and operate in a highly efficient manner. Their total output value reached 370 million yuan ($55 million) and annual profits hit 43 million yuan.
Since 2017, Star Creation Worlds have trained 22,000 farmers, 160 of whom were provided support for starting their own agriculture businesses. A total of 13,800 self-employed farmers have benefited from the organization’s training and guidance. Low-income families who worked for them were able to earn an extra 5,000 yuan each year.
