Guangxi Academy of Sciences comes to Hechi

The Hechi branch of the Guangxi Academy of Sciences was unveiled on Dec 24. The academy is strong in research and is expected to take full advantage of Hechi's abundant natural resources and help commercialize technological developments in the city.

Founded in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in 1980, the Guangxi Academy of Sciences is a comprehensive research organization focused on the natural sciences. It is directly subordinate to the regional government.

Jin Cheng, president of the Guangxi Academy of Sciences, and Hechi Mayor Tang Yunshu signed an agreement on the joint development of the academy's Hechi branch.

Hechi is blessed with an abundance of unique natural resources such as non-ferrous metals, a vast array of flora and fauna, and other resources beneficial to leisure and health. The city is currently prioritizing environmental protection, poverty alleviation, and the development of industrial technology.

Jin said that the Guangxi Academy of Sciences will guide the research and development undertaken by its Hechi branch while also providing it access to R&D resources and results. A system of cooperation will be established between the institutions to co-develop talents and conduct joint research projects.

Hechi Party Chief He Xinxing said that the establishment of the new academy branch will help Hechi overcome challenges in technological development and promote economic development as well. He advised relevant government departments to offer their full support in terms of policies, construction, and planning.
