An award ceremony was held in Hechi on Nov 26 to commend five local meteorological stations, which have been selected among China's first batch of centennial meteorological stations.
The honored stations are in the counties of Du'an, Bama, Huanjiang, Nandan and Tian'e.
The China Meteorological Administration organized a press conference in June to release the list. Hechi accounts for almost half of Guangxi's 11 listed stations.
China centennial meteorological stations refer to those that conduct continuous, long-term work. The nine criteria for selection included establishing time, regional representativeness, observation environment and historical metadata.
The chosen meteorological stations will be under key protection and play important roles in offering scientific support on climate change studies and ecological civilization construction.
