Mulao ethnic artist presents Liu Sanjie's life through paper-cutting art
An eight-meter-long paper-cut scroll known as Fairy Singer Liu Sanjie debuted at the First Primary School in Yizhou district, Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Nov 8.
The work was created by Luo Huaqing, a paper-cut artist descended from the Mulao ethnic group.

The paper-cut work has a total of five chapters and tells the legendary story of Liu Sanjie. Dozens of unique images make the work vivid and memorable.
Luo visited Liu Sanjie's hometown to learn more about the legendary singer.
Luo also went to museums and cultural centers in the autonomous region to consult folk experts. She learned many stories about Liu, laying a solid foundation for her work of art.
She said that in the 60 years since the founding of Guangxi, Mulao people's lives have improved drastically and the place has become ever more beautiful.
Luo's goal was to showcase the far-reaching changes in the social economy and everyday life in the region through the lens of Liu Sanjie's life.
