Intangible cultural heritages shine in Hechi

The 19th Hechi Bronze Drum and Folk Song Art Festival was held on Oct 21, incorporating various intangible cultural heritage performances by groups of folk artists from 11 counties and districts.

The city of Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has constantly strengthened the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritages and has actively explored effective ways to protect them. In order to push forward with innovative developments, the city has set up several exhibition centers and inheritance bases. The total number of items considered intangible cultural heritages currently stands at 8,740, including nine on the national list and 54 on the regional-level list, as well as eight national intangible cultural heritage bearers and 57 regional ones.

On Oct 22, the closing ceremony of the art festival, which included an award ceremony, was held at the Ethnic Hall of Dahua Yao autonomous county. During proceedings, it was announced that the 20th session will be held in Nandan next year.
