Shenzhen aids Hechi with $8.7m for education

Shenzhen city in Guangdong province has contributed more than 60 million yuan ($8.7 million) to rebuilding or expanding schools in seven national-level counties in Hechi, according to the Shenzhen-Hechi Educational Counterpart Support Conference held in Hechi on Aug 15.

Zhang Jihong, director of Shenzhen's education bureau, conducted an investigative survey in Hechi from Aug 14 to 16 with other government officials, leading to an agreement on educational aid and personnel exchange. The earlier framework agreement signed in April 2017 had announced that they would strengthen counterpart cooperation in the construction of education facilities, improvement of teachers' teaching ability and cultivation of volunteers.

Shenzhen sent 10 voluntary teachers to support education in Hechi and also provided financial aid to impoverished students, which has greatly assisted Hechi's educational programs.
