Hechi's economy grows sharply

Hechi's economy has grown at a faster pace over the past half year thanks to the government's concrete efforts in promoting infrastructure construction and socio-economic transformation.

With an increase of 11.4 percent, Hechi's total output value is now the second fastest growing in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The gross industrial output of the city's enterprises with annual main business income of over 20 million yuan ($3 million) grew by 20.2 percent, the top growth rate in Guangxi. The per capita income for rural residents increased by 10.8 percent and that for urban residents grew by 6.7 percent, ranking second in the region.

Apart from economic growth, Hechi has achieved good results in environmental protection; its forest coverage rate is up to 69.74 percent and the rate of good air quality reached 90.06 percent. The air quality of 10 counties and districts is consistently above the national second level.

Hechi's accomplishments are based on its approach of improving the eco-environment and reducing poverty while furthering industrial transformation and upgrading.
