Originating in Nandan county of Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the Diaojiang River is a tributary of the Hongshui River, flowing through Jinchengjiang district and Du'an Yao autonomous county with a length of 237 kilometers and a basin area of 3,604 square kilometers.

The river banks are long and narrow valleys with rich soil, which provide lands for local farmers to grow grain crops.
