Tourism industry surges in Hechi

Hechi witnessed a sharp increase in its tourism industry from January to May this year.

The number of visitors from home and abroad was about 14.1 million, with a year-on-year growth of 27.3 percent, while total tourism consumption was nearly 17.2 billion yuan ($2.6 billion), an increase of 36.05 percent over the same period last year.

Located in Northwest Guangxi, Hechi city has picturesque landscapes of green hills and clear waters.

To become an all-for-one tourism demonstration area, which means to drive the economy on all cylinders through the power of tourism, Hechi prioritizes boosting unique tourism in its own image.

Meanwhile, the city plans to set up world-class tourism sites. Sixty-eight tourism projects including the Bama International Tourist Resort received investment of 409 million yuan in the first five months of this year.

The city also propelled tourism project construction, broadened financing channels and mobilized tourism integration to maintain strong development momentum.

Moreover, Hechi held a promotion conference for the Bama International Tourist Resort in Shenzhen, Guangdong province to enhance ties with that city and strengthen cooperation in poverty alleviation.
