The world's largest bronze drum made in Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region made its official debut in Southwest China and was handed a world record certificate by Guinness in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county of Hechi on June 29.
A ritual ceremony was organized for the bronze drum at 9 am.
The ceremony begins with thunderous drumming of more than 1,000 drums beaten by over 1,000 performers from Donglan, Nandan and Huanjiang of Hechi as well as those from Yunnan and Guizhou provinces.
The bronze drum is 6.68 meters in diameter and weighs about 50 tons. It took 10 months for over 30 workers to complete.
It was designed by Wei Qichu, an inheritor of the traditional bronze drum casting technique, which is an intangible cultural heritage in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
