Huanjiang biomass plant ready for grid connection
The first biomass power plant in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is expected to be connected to the grid in early July.
The project, financed by Hunan-based Reang Eco-Energy Co is located in Huanjiang Industrial Park, and covers an area of 7.67 hectares with total investment of 180 million yuan ($27.79 million).
Since we started work last year, we have completed construction and installed the equipment; next we plan to start testing our systems, said Qin Pengli project manager.
At full capacity, the facility's generators will consume around 320,000 metric tons of biomass fuel. The fuel is processed from straw and other agricultural waste.
The biomass power plant will have an installed capacity of 185 million kilowatt-hours of electricity anually and help reduce carbon emissions by 220,000 tons. It is expected to generate 60 million yuan in revenue for farmers each year, and create over 200 jobs.
The high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers supported by the project can provide 400,000 tons of steam thermal energy and electricity for the processing companies, which will help promote the industrial transformation and upgrading of the park.
In recent years, Huanjiang Industrial Park has focused on ecofriendly growth and introduced new energy projects.
Construction on a new wind power project with an investment of 1.1 billion yuan is expected to begin later this month.
