A bronze drum made in Huangjiang Maonan autonomous county of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is eyeing for the new Guinness World Records title for the world's largest bronze drum.

The drum was shipped out of the factory in the deep mountainous areas of Huanjiang, heading to downtown after a journey of seven hours 20 minutes on June 12.

Measuring 6.68 meters in diameter and weighing about 50 tons, the bronze drum is said to be the largest one in the world. It took ten months for over 30 workers to complete.

It was designed by Wei Qichu, an inheritor of the traditional bronze drum casting technique, which is an intangible cultural heritage in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Wei is going to break his own mark created on Jan 16, 2016 by making a drum which is 4.198 meters in diameter and 2.595 meters tall. He plans to make a new one for the Guinness World Records.

Bronze drums are a traditional percussion instrument among ethnic groups in Southwest China.
