Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county has invested a total of 41.38 million yuan ($6.5 million) into its safe drinking water project, benefiting 86,800 residents, including 26,500 residents from registered low-income families. The project addresses the lack of safe drinking water among impoverished residents in remote areas and is a key step toward broader poverty alleviation in the region.

In recent years, the county's Department of Water Resources has promoted the construction of water infrastructure and improved the water supply system.

Priority is given to providing safe drinking water to impoverished households in remote rural areas which lack easy access.

The county has made significant efforts to strengthen centralized management of water supply and improve water quality.

In 2016, the county invested 16.66 million yuan in 147 projects, benefiting 44,000 residents. In 2017, the county invested 24.72 million yuan in 186 projects, benefiting 42,800 residents.

In 2018, the county plans to invest 17.04 million yuan and bring safe drinking water to 27,600 rural residents.
