Bamboo festival held in Hechi's village

During the Labor Day holiday, Xiaqiao village of Bagong town in Jinchengjiang district, Hechi city, held a "2018 Xiaqiao Bamboo-themed Cultural Festival", attracting thousands of tourists.

There were a whole range of activities include an opening ceremony, a folk-song performance, a long-table banquet, weaving of bamboo ornaments, and various bamboo-themed contests.

Among the contests the most eye-catching included the carrying of tourists with bamboo poles, catching a silk ball with a bamboo basket, and walking on bamboo stilts -- all plenty of fun for visitors.

In addition, tourists raved about the local delicacies at the long-table banquet including bamboo-tube-cooked rice, roast fish on bamboo chips, mulberry wine in bamboo tubes, and roast pig on bamboo chips.

Local products including honey, traditional Chinese rice-pudding and duck's eggs were well-received by visitors and sold well.

Bagong town is located at the northwest of Jinchengjiang district, Hechi city. People of Zhuang, Miao, and Yao ethnic groups inhabit the region. Xiaqiao village in the town has the biggest area of bamboo in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. It boasts unique natural scenery as well as rich ethnic culture and in recent years has attracted many tourists.
