Conference on cocoon silk industry held in Hechi

The 2018 National Conference on Analysis of Production and Sales of Cocoon Silk was held in Yizhou district, Hechi city on April 26. It involved in-depth discussions about the current situation and tendencies in the cocoon silk industry.

Tang Lin, the president of the China Silk Association, Ma Yisheng, chief engineer of the industry and information technology commission of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Li Fengyun, deputy mayor of Hechi city, and leaders and representatives of relevant institutions attended the conference.

Tang said that in 2017 the cocoon silk industry seized the opportunity for development and pushed forward supply-side structural reform. It promoted product innovation and improved product quality. The sales volume has increased both domestically and internationally, creating a positive outlook.

According to Ma Yisheng, in recent years, with the nation's strategy of "moving mulberries from the east to the west", the silk industry in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has enjoyed rapid growth and has developed the greatest potential in the cocoon silk industry in China. The autonomous region intends to speed up industrial restructuring and upgrading and promote deep-processing of cocoon silk to improve the quality of the industry's development.

"In 2017, mulberry fields covered an area of 346,800 mu (23,120 hectares), with an output of 58,000 tons of undried cocoon, ranking first nationwide for 12 consecutive years in terms of the area of mulberry field and the yield of cocoons in a county," said Li Fengyun, deputy mayor of Hechi city, in her speech. "We hope that we can have more communication and cooperation with you and bring mutual benefit and win-win results through this platform."

Attendees include Wei Kai, deputy director general of the cocoon silk office of the Ministry of Commerce, and Liu Xin, vice director of the department of industry of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, who both spoke at the conference.
