Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region reported robust economic and tech growth in the first three quarters, with industrial AI core output jumping over 60 percent year-on-year, the regional development and reform commission announced on Oct 25.
Guangxi's GDP grew 5.3 percent year-on-year during the period. Its industrial AI core sector generated 56.2 billion yuan (about $7.89 billion) in output, according to the commission. The China-ASEAN National AI Application Cooperation Center in Guangxi has signed 61 domestic projects.
To boost AI development, Guangxi is advancing a clear development path: AI technologies are researched and developed in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, integrated and assembled in Guangxi, and applied in ASEAN countries.
It has also facilitated over 30 cross-border AI cooperation projects between Chinese and ASEAN enterprises to support this path.
Through events like the 2025 China Industrial Transfer and Cooperation Conference, Guangxi secured new investment deals worth 693 billion yuan, up 11 percent year-on-year. Among these, 177 projects each exceeding one billion yuan totaled 378.1 billion yuan in investment.
The 22nd China-ASEAN Expo and Business and Investment Summit also drove progress, attracting 3,200 enterprises from 45 countries. The strong "AI presence" has shifted China-ASEAN trade from "traditional channels" to a "new digital-driven track".
