The completion of the China-European Union Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI) negotiations on Dec 30, 2020 will bring more opportunities for the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) to promote China-EU cooperation and the integrated development of the regional economy, officials from the CAEXPO Secretariat said on Jan 12.

The CAEXPO, jointly hosted by the ASEAN Secretariat as well as the economic and trade ministries of 10 ASEAN countries and China, has been a platform for showcasing the broad market and abundant business opportunities not only in China and ASEAN, but across the world.

The expo has taken an active role in inviting representatives from all walks of life from European countries, including those from governments and businesses, to participate in the event, greatly pushing forward communication between China and global economic entities such as ASEAN and the EU as well as creating cooperation opportunities for China, ASEAN countries and European countries.

The CAEXPO Secretariat said that European countries such as France, Germany and Italy have attended previous CAEXPOs. Poland became first CAEXPO's special cooperation partner from Europe during the 16th CAEXPO, displaying the country's charm in areas spanning advantageous products and major industries.

Barcelona in Spain has attached much importance to expanding its Asian market through CAEXPO. It took part in the expo for the first time in 2020, arranging 30 local companies to carry out online negotiations and purchasing in areas spanning general merchandise, hardware, home textiles, plastic products, medical and health protection equipment.

The CAEXPO Secretariat added that the CAEXPO will build a bridge linking European countries with China and ASEAN countries, and make contributions to the further development of multilateral communication and cooperation as well as integration into global industry chains.
